Best pushchairs for your car boot
Most pushchair round-ups tell you how a pram feels to push. None of them tell you whether it fits the car sitting on your driveway. We measured the folded size of 47 pushchairs and checked every one against 69 real boots.
Pick it once and every pushchair on this page tells you whether it fits your boot with the rear seats up and the parcel shelf in place. We remember your choice on the other guides too.

How to check before you buy
1. Measure three things
Depth to the seat backs, width at the narrowest point between the wheel arches, and height to the parcel shelf. Five minutes with a tape measure. Where exactly →
2. Use the folded figure, not the litres
A 500-litre boot shaped like a tall box will refuse a pushchair that slides into a 450-litre boot with a long flat floor.
3. Add the carrycot
For the first six months you carry it as well, and it is not in any published folded size. Leave roughly another 80 × 45 × 25 cm.

Frequently asked
How is this list ranked?+
By how many of our measured car boots each pushchair fits, then by the size of the folded package. We do not rate ride quality, fabric or looks, because we have not tested those — plenty of other sites will tell you how a pushchair feels to push. What almost nobody tells you is whether it goes in your car, and that is a question with a factual answer.
What size boot do I need for a pushchair?+
Folded pushchairs in our data run from 51 to 105 cm on their longest side. The measurement that catches people out is height to the parcel shelf: below about 40 cm the bulkier travel systems stop going in without taking the shelf out.
Does the carrycot count?+
No, and this matters for the first six months. Folded dimensions published by makers are for the chassis with the seat unit. A carrycot is carried separately and takes roughly another 80 × 45 × 25 cm. If you are buying a travel system for a newborn, budget for both.
Are these manufacturer figures?+
Yes, and each one links to its source. Where a maker publishes a second, smaller fold — wheels off or seat removed — we hold that too and say when the verdict depends on it.
